Trapcode Particular Spiral Galaxy in After Effects

Yes that’s right folks. I have spent some time over the last few weeks working on an animation in After Effects to be used as part of a production logo. Here is the result of that time:

Pretty neat huh? So, for all those out there who have been looking to do something similar but haven’t been able to find ANY tutorials to so, fear not! I will be working on releasing a tutorial on this very subject. I’m not sure when, but I can assure you that I will. Until then, enjoy!

Film Career on the Move

July 16, 2010 at 8:42 pm | Blog, Production | 1 comment

Last week I was asked to be the Unit Production Manager (UPM)  for a science fiction series pilot. The series is titled Rivers of Blood. Principal photography of the pilot episode – Before the Flood – is set to start some time early this Fall. As I sit here and write this post, work is being done to lock down the script and costuming. The cast has already been picked and several pieces of test footage has been shot. A few of the set pieces are ready to go but there’s still a lot of work to go before shooting starts.

In addition to UPM, I’ll also be acting as the VFX Supervisor and Cinematographer. In the next few weeks I have a lot cut out for me. I’m also the Producer for a new feature film project titled Extramarital Affairs, which has just gone into preproduction. I’m extremely excited about this project as it will be my first feature length project.

Extramarital Affairs is an Action/Comedy, where Alan Brody, a contract killer, walks in on his wife is cheating on him with a struggling actor, Jerry Malcom. In the heat of the moment, Brody confesses to her and Jerry, that he is in fact a contract killer. Brody’s wife threatens to go to the feds if anything happens to Jerry. Several days later, in a impulsive move, Brody decides to kidnap Jerry. Brody, his best friend Lyle Ratner – also a contractor – and their handler Simon Baker, decide it would be best to drag Jerry along on a few jobs in hopes of either implicating him or getting him killed just incase Brody’s wife decides to rat them out. Through the events of the night, Brody and Jerry begin to see things eye to eye and Jerry feels he may have found a new career and a new perspective on life.

I’m hoping to start principal photography in mid to late Fall, but as with any film production there will always be snags and unforeseen issues that push back the schedule.

Production Update: The Human Resistance

December 15, 2009 at 4:40 pm | Blog, Production, design | No comment

It’s been a while since I last wrote about the new web series I’m working on. A few months ago, we were slated to have wrapped filming and post production and launched season one. Well… due to unforeseen circumstances that didn’t happen. We regrouped, cut some fat, built some muscle, and started fresh. We took our idea all the back to the initial concept and began to build it back up to where it should have been all along. Now, with a new direction, and a new team, things are progressing in an almost unrestrained flow. Everything is just falling into place now. There’s no more swimming upstream or dodging boulders from the mountain which we are no longer climbing.

With all this said, I finished a new teaser which will also be used as the intro sequence (in part) to each episode of the series. With this new teaser comes a rebranding of the series. We’ve updated the name, as well as the look and feel over all. With out any further ado… I present to you, the opening title sequence for Terminator: The Human Resistance

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, oh my!

Well, production on TheHumanResistance.com has been put on hold and pushed back into preproduction due to a few catastrophic setbacks. This was kind of a blessing in disguise, as the entire project was getting off track. Now, myself and coproducer Chris Neff can get the production back on track with our original vision.

Over the next few weeks/months we’ll be rewriting and breaking everything down so there will be no chance of what happened last week happening again.

Lesson learned this time around? Just because someone is adamant about taking on a role of responsibility doesn’t mean they’re the right person for the job. A lack of experience can cloud their judgment and lead to many tasks and details falling through the cracks.

It takes place in the year 2016, five years after Judgment Day, the day when the computer system named Skynet, turned on mankind and wiped out half of the world’s human population. Lead by Joshua Archer, a captain under John Connor’s command in the Tech-Com forces of the human resistance.
